Join our family of dedicated, highly skilled Sterile Processing Technicians at St. Vincent’s Orthosports Department Birmingham.  We work together as a team and care for each other as a family.

 

  • SIGN ON BONUS available
  • Full Time, Monday - Friday Evening shift 2:00pm to 10:30pm
  • Call required

The Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center has built a worldwide reputation for excellence in sports medicine, orthopaedic patient care, research, education, and prevention. This state-of-the-art surgical facility boasts 16 operating suites, designed exclusively for orthopaedic surgeries which is a concept pioneered by co-founder Dr. James R. Andrews.  

 


What You Will Do

Inspect, assemble and evaluate all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure proper sterilization, completeness of set, and to determine need for repair/replacement.

  • Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to established protocols.
  • Inspect instruments, equipment and containers to assure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Correct instrument sets according to current standards and established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
  • Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Central Service Tech credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) preferred.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Additional Preferences

  • Sterile Processing experience strongly preferred; will work with surgical instruments; sterilization, tray assembly; decontam area.  Must have computer experience.
