Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center. 
  

What will you do in this role:
• Verifies and signs all new orders for respiratory care.
• Assures that all physician orders coincide with current departmental policy.
• Responsible for the recognition, interpretation, and recording of signs and symptoms of respiratory dysfunction and medication side effects, particularly those that require notification of a physician.
• Responsible for the initiation and maintenance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life-support procedures. Ensures adequate airway management and assist with intubation.
• The effective and safe use of equipment for administering oxygen and other therapeutic gases and for providing humidification, nebulization, and medication.
• To know and understand the principles of arterial blood gas analysis, acid-base balance and demonstrated competence in obtaining arterial blood gas samples.


Education:
• Graduate from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy required.
 
What qualifications you will need:
• Minimum of 1 year of current/recent experience working in a hospital setting required.
• Registered by the National Board Respiratory Care. RRT is required.
• Current permanent license issued by the Texas Department of Health to practice Respiratory Care.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification required.
