Come lead our Surgical Services Department as Manager of Surgical Services !

 

St. Vincent’s Birmingham is a 400+ bed hospital conveniently located downtown.

What You Will Do

Manage the daily operations of the assigned area(s).

  • Develop specific departmental goals, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Assess quality of patient care and coordinate patient care services with patients, staff, physicians and other departments.
  • Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts and vendor relations. Maintain systems to assure adequate levels of supplies and necessary equipment.
  • Manage daily surgery schedule maintaining communication with all disciplines involved.
  • Plan and prioritize day-to-day activities of personnel. Adjust staffing to compensate for emergency situations or increase or decrease inpatient census.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Preferred Credential(s):

  •  BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  •  Central Service Tech credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM).
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing. 
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) 

 

 

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience required.
  • 1 year of leadership or management experience required.

Additional Preferences

Work Experience:

  • 3- 5 years of PACU/ASD experience required. 1 year of leadership or management experience required.
