Basic Function:

The maintenance mechanic will be responsible for all production maintenance, including product quality control, maintenance and repair of production machinery and equipment. This role involves applying mechanical expertise in determining work methods and procedures for proper maintenance and repair of production machinery.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow, without exception, all work instructions and safety policies, including use of all PPE and safety equipment
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance checks on all production equipment and machinery
  • Repair basic mechanical components and replace parts on machines such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves, gauges and switches
  • Observe and listen to mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of problem
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Lubricate and clean machinery and support equipment to maintain housekeeping and preventive maintenance standards within the plant
  • Accomplish all work orders to maintain safety; reduce downtime; decrease scrap; improve quality production; and improve plant efficiency
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures including Lockout/Tagout program, housekeeping and observes the operations to insure a safe work environment 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Troubleshoot and repair various hydraulic circuits including pumps, directional valves and cylinders.
  • Installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of tapered, cylindrical, spherical roller and sleeve bearings.
  • Repair and troubleshooting of gear reducers and gearboxes.
  • Repair and troubleshooting of belt conveyors and screw augers.
  • Possess the following skills at the professional level: welding, machining, mechanical/millwright, MIG and TIG welding, pneumatic and hydraulic repair, machining skills and moderate electrical circuit knowledge including fuse replacement, motor replacement, motor controls and basic PLC input/output circuits.
  • Practice and experience in proper rigging fundamentals to change out large components.
  • Conduct all preventive, predictive and general maintenance on machine equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Review blueprints and equipment manuals to determine the required maintenance. As well as develop, utilize, and train others on job specific tasks.
  • Provide support and offer guidance to team members.
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with all safety and quality processes.
  • Strong learning aptitude required, ability to learn quickly and work independently in a team environment.
  • Completes required daily paperwork and make computer entries in CMMS.
  • Take ownership of equipment/repairs and areas including housekeeping.
