Primary Purpose

This position is accountable for advanced applications to ensure that proper procedures, protocols, and methods of acquisition are utilized for optimal images and patient care.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited imaging program for any of the following primary pathways:
    • Radiography
    • Magnetic Resonance Imaging
    • Nuclear Medicine Technology
    • Sonography
    • Vascular Sonography
  • Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:

- None.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

  • If working in Diagnostic Radiography(DX) or Interventional Radiology (IR):
    • Must have American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (R) certification as a Registered Radiologic Technologist
    • Must have a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) or Texas Medical Board
  • If working in Computed Tomography (CT):
    • Must have American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (CT) certification as a Registered CT Technologist
    • Must have a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) or Texas Medical Board
  • If working in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI):
    • Must have American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (MR) certification as a Registered MRI Technologist
  • If working in Mammography (MA):
    • Must have American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (M) certification as a Mammography Technologist
    • Must have a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) or Texas Medical Board
  • If working in Nuclear Medicine (NM) and/or PET/CT:
    • Must have American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (N) certification as a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist or be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
    • Must have a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) or Texas Medical Board
  • If working in Ultrasound (US):
    • Must be registered in the sub specialty of abdomen [by ARDMS (RDMS (AB)) or ARRT (S)] and vascular sonography [by ARDMS RVT or CCI-RVS].
  • If working in Vascular Lab:
    • Must be registered in the sub specialty vascular sonography [by ARDMS RVT or CCI-RVS].
  • In any department, all positions must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card or obtain certification during initial orientation at Parkland from one of the following:
    • American Heart Association
    • American Red Cross Rescuer
    • Military Training Network.

Skills or Special Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate full competency in performing advanced procedures and the use of post processing applications.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of computer software applications, including advanced applications.
  • Must be able to demonstrate good time management, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be able to assess and or determine process flow requirements that will lead to improved advanced applications outcomes.
  • Must be able to demonstrates independent judgement, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills when appropriate.
