Job Description

SUMMARY: Responsible for drafting detailed design drawings for production assemblies, sub-assemblies and parts in SolidWorks, making sure they comply with established engineering standards. This includes validation of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists engineers with hands-on troubleshooting efforts from production, prototypes, and processes.
  • Responsible for the creation of detailed drawings for development of products.
  • Receive revisions and update associated drawings.
  • Validate BOM associated on assembly and sub-assembly drawings.
  • Validate weldment cut lists associated on part drawings.
  • Open drawings and Models in SolidWorks EPDM.
  • Validate accuracy and completeness of drawings and models including;
    • Sketches are fully defined,
    • Files state is appropriate,
    • Mates are appropriate in assemblies,
    • Notes on drawings are appropriate,
    • The correct drawing template was used
    • Material properties are correct
  • Appropriate standards are followed for lighting, weldment…etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of SolidWorks skills and techniques.
  • Maintain knowledge of fabrication and Assembly equipment and capability.
  • Maintain knowledge of drawing templates and standard notes, materials…etc. available in SolidWorks.
  • Maintain knowledge and use of the EPDM.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot SolidWorks issues as appropriate during the checking process.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associates or Technical Degree in Engineering/Design/Autocad is preferred
  • Must be fully capable in using 2017 SolidWorks 3D Software. Solidworks Certification preferred.
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD.
  • 1-2 years previous experience using SolidWorks to create detailed design drawings
  • Must have previous experience in an assembly environment with a thorough working knowledge of assembly techniques, use of fixtures, templates and hand tools.
  • Must have a working knowledge of fabrication techniques using standard equipment such as: Shears, Press Brakes and Lasers.
  • Should be aware of regulatory requirements involved in vehicle manufacturing.
  • Should have a general knowledge of industry standard tolerance for fabricated parts.
  • Experience using Enterprise Product Data Management Software is a plus.
