Summary

As Controller, you will be responsible for handling high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and oversee the financial activities for our DuraMag and Magnum divisions under the direction of the Director of Finance at our facility in Waterville, ME.

In addition, you will serve as the head of the Finance Department for DuraMag/Magnum, and will be tasked with managing and supervising all aspects of accounting from financial statement preparation to internal controls compliance. You will also be involved with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed.

    Responsibilties
    • Support the company in all their financial reporting and analysis needs.
    • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual balancing of books and monthly account reviews.
    • Prepare and present financial statements and related reports including but not limited to balance sheet, income statement, cash-flow reports, budgets, and variance analysis.
    • Monthly review and approval of all balance sheet account reconciliations.
    • Assist in the preparation of internal controls documentation, sales tax reports, and other internal and external reports as required.
    • Manage team of 4 – Accounting manager, Senior Accountant, AP/Staff Accountant, AR Analyst.
    • Assist in development of financial plan and forecast, along with company strategic planning.
    • Attend sales and production meetings as required.
    • Assist in direct budget preparation, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification for proposed budgets.
    • Assist in analyzing financial data looking for business efficiencies and verifying accuracy.
    • Provide management with timely review of organization's financial status and progress.
    • Develop reporting and prepare statistical and written reports for management.
    • Evaluate degree of financial risks in current and future undertakings.
    • Monitor receivables to ensure credit risk is mitigated.
    • Assist with company strategic planning.
    • Assist with the development of overhead and labor standards.
    • Review, evaluate and implement accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
    • Verify all Sarbanes-Oxley and other compliance requirements are implemented.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
    • Assists with special projects as required, such as ERP Implementation.

    Qualifications
    • Minimum of bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
    • Minimum of six years accounting experience, manufacturing preferred but not required.
    • Working knowledge of forecasting and financial reports.
    • Demonstrated ability to interpret economic conditions and anticipate the impact on the organization.
    • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.
    • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
    • Proven leadership and business acumen skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Knowledge of QuickBooks or Plex preferred but not required.
    • Willing to travel as needed (minimal).
